Event Manager
Location: Great Neck, NY

Leonard’s Palazzo, Long Island’s Premier banquet hall, seeks a detail oriented, motivated and dedicated self-starter to join our team in the position of Event Manager. The Event Manager position is a Full-time position to be responsible for soliciting new clients and maintaining relationships with existing accounts to meet and/or exceed revenue goals.

The Event Manager will be responsible for selling events and coordinating all details leading up to the day of the event. This includes handling all the preparation before and after the event. The Event Manager will work closely with clients to ensure their event is a success and follow up with the client to get feedback after the event.

Job Responsibilities:

• Comprehend the capacities and capabilities of all event spaces within the company property and use independent judgment and discretion, while staying within parameters set by General Manager, to identify potential uses of event facilities.
• Sales: Produce and manage sales based on leads via incoming calls, previous clients, email inquiries or internal referrals with the purpose of converting the lead to a sale. Identify, qualify and solicit new catering business to achieve revenue goals. Use independent judgment and discretion to pre-qualify and identify potential leads.
• Contracts and proposal: Using independent judgment and discretion develop proposals and contracts for events that specify the date and time of the event, the guest count, specific details about the event, the event facility, the event theme, food/cuisine, and pricing for the event.
• Event Planning: Coordinate all aspects of booked events from the time of booking to event execution. Work directly with clients and event planners to gather necessary information for menu planning, floor plans, room set up, timelines, décor, special requests, billing details and any other requirements pertinent to events, in a timely manner.
• Customer Service: Event manager is responsible for managing client expectations. Event managers escort clients through the venue and highlight the facility’s features, amenities and available services. Serve the customer by understanding their needs and recommending the appropriate features and services to best meet their expectations.
• Coordination: Work as a liaison between client and facility by using Caterease to effectively communicate all needs of events to each department. Proactively establish and maintain effective working team relationships with all supporting departments.
• Planning: The Event manager is responsible for all the logistics and details of the events he/she sells. Using the “Reminders” feature, utilize Caterease to trace all daily sales activities and client correspondence. Ensure that all documents (proposals, contracts, BEO’s, floor plans) are completed accurately and on-time.
• Maintain well-documented, accurate, organized and up-to-date file management system to serve clients and employer in the most expedient and knowledgeable manner. Promptly follow up on all customer needs.
• Utilize compelling salesmanship to up-sell food, beverage and service.
• Communicate with General Manager regarding customer concerns.

Hours: Generally expected to work 11:00am to 7:00pm, weekdays and weekends.

QUALIFICATIONS
• Bachelor’s degree
• 1 to 3 years of experience within hospitality industry preferred.
• Proficient in Microsoft Office Suite.
• Knowledge of principles and methods for showing, promoting, and selling products or services.
• Must have a good business aptitude with strong customer service skills
• Ability to work independently as well as collaborate in team pursuits.
• Strong written and verbal communication skills.
• Strong project management skills.
• Strong work ethic and ability to multi-task in a fast-paced work environment.
• Self-motived, highly organized and detail oriented.

Waiter/ Server
Classification: Non-Exempt

Leonard’s Palazzo, Long Island’s Premier banquet hall, seeks a Waiter/Waitress. The Waiter/Waitress will be responsible for taking orders and delivering food and beverages to guests with excellent service.

Job Responsibilities:

• To provide the highest quality service to guests at all times.
• To treat every guest, employee and vendor with respect and dignity.
• To assist with set-up and break down of banquet rooms, such as but not limited to, silverware, glassware, favors/ décor items and linen.
• Take meal and drink orders and properly execute all steps of service.
• Report to work on time and in proper uniform, always punching in and out as required of all employees.
• Bus silverware and plates as necessary during cocktail hour and reception service.
• Respond positively to any guest’s requests.
• Perform other job-related activities or duties, as required or assigned by the supervisor.

Maître D’
Classification: Non-Exempt

Leonard’s Palazzo, Long Island’s Premier banquet hall, seeks a Maître D’. The Maître D’ supervises and coordinates activities of host by providing courteous and rapid service.

Job Responsibilities:

• The Maître D’ uses independent judgement and discretion and is responsible for coordinating all the details the day of the event, handling all the preparation before the event and after.
• The Maître D’ works closely with clients to ensure their event is a success and follow up with the client to get feedback at the end of the night.
• The Maître D’ not only manages client relations but also supervises employee and vendor relations to create successful events. Greet event host and additional family members as needed, prior to function, make introduction and ensure that all arrangements are agreeable.
• Work with clients and guest to identify their needs to ensure customer satisfaction.
• Effectively execute BEO with a high level of precision and timing.
• Supervise and inspect that all bars are set in line with BEO details.
• Conduct pre-function meeting with servers and review all information pertinent to set-up and service of event.
• Organize facilities and details such as special guest and promotional material/favors as per host’s request.
• Meet with the Executive Chef to review event’s menu requirements. Ensure agreement of course times, counts and special arrangements. Communicate service needs throughout the function.
• Direct servers on timing of service throughout function.
• Effectively coordinate staff assignments and breaks for all service and bar staff.
• Effectively communicate between kitchen staff, floor staff, bartenders, captains, bridal attendant and management as needed.
• Assign stations and side work to service staff in accordance with departmental procedures.
• Complete necessary paper work per event with a high level of detail for record keeping.
