Waiter/ Server

Classification: Non-Exempt

Leonard’s Palazzo, Long Island’s Premier banquet hall, seeks a Waiter/Waitress. The Waiter/Waitress will be responsible for taking orders and delivering food and beverages to guests with excellent service.

Job Responsibilities:

• To provide the highest quality service to guests at all times.
• To treat every guest, employee and vendor with respect and dignity.
• To assist with set-up and break down of banquet rooms, such as but not limited to, silverware, glassware, favors/ décor items and linen.
• Take meal and drink orders and properly execute all steps of service.
• Report to work on time and in proper uniform, always punching in and out as required of all employees.
• Bus silverware and plates as necessary during cocktail hour and reception service.
• Respond positively to any guest’s requests.
• Perform other job-related activities or duties, as required or assigned by the supervisor.

Maître D’

Classification: Non-Exempt

Leonard’s Palazzo, Long Island’s Premier banquet hall, seeks a Maître D’. The Maître D’ supervises and coordinates activities of host by providing courteous and rapid service.

Job Responsibilities:

• The Maître D’ uses independent judgement and discretion and is responsible for coordinating all the details the day of the event, handling all the preparation before the event and after.
• The Maître D’ works closely with clients to ensure their event is a success and follow up with the client to get feedback at the end of the night.
• The Maître D’ not only manages client relations but also supervises employee and vendor relations to create successful events. Greet event host and additional family members as needed, prior to function, make introduction and ensure that all arrangements are agreeable.
• Work with clients and guest to identify their needs to ensure customer satisfaction.
• Effectively execute BEO with a high level of precision and timing.
• Supervise and inspect that all bars are set in line with BEO details.
• Conduct pre-function meeting with servers and review all information pertinent to set-up and service of event.
• Organize facilities and details such as special guest and promotional material/favors as per host’s request.
• Meet with the Executive Chef to review event’s menu requirements. Ensure agreement of course times, counts and special arrangements. Communicate service needs throughout the function.
• Direct servers on timing of service throughout function.
• Effectively coordinate staff assignments and breaks for all service and bar staff.
• Effectively communicate between kitchen staff, floor staff, bartenders, captains, bridal attendant and management as needed.
• Assign stations and side work to service staff in accordance with departmental procedures.
• Complete necessary paper work per event with a high level of detail for record keeping.

Housekeeping Supervisor

Leonard’s Palazzo, Long Island’s Premier banquet hall, seeks a detail oriented, motivated and dedicated self-starter to join our team in the position of Housekeeping Supervisor.

The Housekeeping Supervisor will be responsible for the daily operations of the Housekeeping and Laundry Department. The Housekeeping Supervisor directs and works closely with employees to ensure that all areas of Leonard’s Palazzo are clean and well maintained.

Job Responsibilities:

• Ensures the daily cleanliness inspection of all areas. Assign duties as needed.
• Supports and supervises an effective inspection/ preventative maintenance program for all areas.
• Ensures adequate supply of inventory at all times.
• Ensures all employees have proper supplies, equipment and uniforms.
• Effectively communicates areas that need attention to staff and follows up to ensure understanding.
• Has a deep understanding of the impact of departments operations on the overall property financial goals and objectives and manages to achieve or exceed budgeted goals.
• Manages Housekeeping Operations and Budgets.
• Participates in departmental meetings and continually communicates a clear and consistent message regarding the departmental goals to produce desired results.
• Establishes and maintains open, collaborative relationships with employees and ensures employees do the same with them.
• Responsible for creating the schedule for the Housekeeping and Laundry Department, schedules employees to business demands and tracks employee time and attendance.
• Ensures exceptional customer service.
• Sets a positive example for guest relations.
• Ensures prompt response to and handles guest problems and complaints.
• Strives to improve service performance.
• Creates and implements SOP for all Housekeeping and Laundry area to ensure maximum productivity.
• Schedules proper preventative maintenance on all necessary equipment, e.g.- washer and dryer machines, dilation system and floor machines.
Supervisory Responsibilities:
• Supervises daily Housekeeping shift operations and ensures compliance with all housekeeping policies, standards and procedures.

Work Hours/Schedule:
Schedule determined by the needs of the company as determined by the General Manager.
Usually full weekend night (as late as 4 am at times).

Minimum Qualifications for Position:

• High School Diploma or GED.
• 2-years experience in the housekeeping or related professional area.
• 2-year degree from an accredited university in Hotel and Restaurant Management, Hospitality, Business Administration, or related major (preferred).
• Bi-lingual (English/Spanish).
• The ability to lift, up to 50 lbs.
• The ability to sit, stand, reach, bend and stoop for extended periods of time.
• The ability to arrange things or actions in a certain order or pattern according to a specific rule or set of rules.
• Ability to learn programs specific to the company and job function.
• Ability to communicate and to convey information effectively.
• The ability to exert yourself physically over long periods of time.
• Strong communication skills.

Front Desk Receptionist

Leonard’s Palazzo, Long Island’s Premier banquet hall, seeks a detail oriented, motivated and dedicated self-starter to join our team as Front Desk Receptionist.

The Receptionist would be responsible for routine clerical and administrative functions such as drafting correspondence, scheduling appointments, organizing and maintaining paper and electronic files. The Receptionist will assist in all administrative tasks of the office.

Job Responsibilities:

• Provide administrative and project support.
• Answer phones and route calls to appropriate department.
• Data entry.
• Filing and organizing.
• Assists with general administrative and clerical functions.
• Other duties may be assigned.

Job Requirements:

• 1 to 3 years of experience preferred.
• Knowledge of administrative and clerical procedure and systems.
• Computer and analytical skills
• Proficient in MS Office.
