One of this year’s hot Long Island wedding trends is the garden wedding. It’s fresh, it’s soft and it is so romantic! Did you know you don’t really need a garden to achieve this beautiful look? Really!
What gives a garden wedding that soft romantic look isn’t actually the garden, it’s all about the decor you use. That doesn’t mean mason jars and burlap, think more high tea in an old English garden.
If you are working with a ballroom or other indoor space, set the stage with some great lighting to wash the walls in soft colors. If you want to go all out you can have the walls lit with gobos of tree silhouettes.
When you look at a wedding hall beautifully set for a wedding, one of the dominant features is the tables. Dress them for your event with pale creamy pink or apricot damask table clothes. They will give a much softer look than stark white and the damask adds some texture. A very, very pale green can give a similar look.
For the centerpieces, use pale pinks, apricots, creams and lots of soft greens. The form should be loose and airy. Flowers like garden roses, peonies, astilbe, and dahlia can give you the look you are going for. Set all this off in containers that look like vintage silver tea pots or gold urns and you are getting the feel.
Dress an evening wedding with small, white lanterns and votive candles. Fairy lights along the perimeter of the room add a magical touch. The look you are going for is dreamy.
Just picture it. A perfect summer Saturday. The newly renovated West Patio at Leonard’s Palazzo, lushly decorated, is the setting for your ceremony. Lovely.
While you and your photographer take full advantage of the richly landscaped grounds, your guests have been whisked away to the Leonardo DaVinci Veranda penthouse for cocktails and appetizers under the setting sun.
he garden party continues as you enter the ballroom. The romantic lighting, the soft colors and the faint scent of roses greet you as you are introduced to your family and friend as a married couple for the first time ever.
With the right lighting, color palette and floral decor, even a grand ballroom can take on a garden party air.
